Sometimes life can be challenging
You are not alone, many of us at some point in our life will face challenges and will struggle. Sometimes, we might need help to explore why we feel the way we do, our relationships with others and ourselves, and find solutions which can improve our quality of life and help us to live it to the full.
Asking for help can be frightening, especially when you feel overwhelmed by what life throws at you, but you’ve taken the first step today by visiting my website.
Sophie Rizzo
Integrative Counsellor
About me
I have lived and worked in London since 1991, when I moved here from Arles in the south of France.
Like many people, I have had to face many challenges in my life and that led me on my counselling career path.
Merging my 25 years’ experience working in mental health, learning disabilities and neurodiversity, and my training as an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, I am able to offer a tailored therapeutic service to suit your needs.
As everyone is not the same, we can work collaboratively to find the best way to help you on your journey by drawing from a range of approaches that best suit you.
My aim is to create a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore your feelings, thoughts, beliefs, behaviours and concerns, and support you to get a better understanding of yourself and of your interaction with others.
I embrace a holistic approach to therapy, utilising various techniques that recognise each person's unique identity. We'll progress at a pace that suits you and prioritise the topics you feel are most important for each session.
I always conduct sessions with the utmost sensitivity, respecting diverse backgrounds, including sexual and gender identities, ethnicities, ages, cultures, and abilities.
I offer short or long term therapy sessions depending on your needs. Appointments last 50 minutes and are available online or in- person.
I work with neurodiverse and neurotypical clients, including those with learning disabilities, offering tailored support for survivors of domestic violence and abuse (DVA), sexual assault and rape, as well as those facing difficult family dynamics, complex relationship issues, anxiety, and depression. I also provide a safe, affirming space for the LGBTQIA+ community, ensuring therapy respects and supports individual identities and experiences.

Why L'hirondelle?
"L'hirondelle" or "swallow" symbolises hope, resilience, and new beginnings. Often associated with freedom and safe returns, it has long been a sign of protection for travellers and sailors. In many cultures, swallows also represent love, loyalty, and the ability to overcome hardships, as they always find their way home.
